News about Candy Sale, Lego Camps, Adopt-A-Book, Holiday Boutique, quilt raffle, and more.

Wednesday Lego® Camps: Six Lego Camps sponsored by the Orient Public Library are going to be held at the O-M School Library during the next few months. Children in grades 2 - 8 are invited to attend any or all of the monthly Lego® Camps starting on November 4. Dates are all on Wednesdays, November 4, December 9, January 27, February 24, March 23, and April 27. Please RSVP for the first session in November at or call the public library after 3:15 pm.  Adopt-A-Book: Support the library by purchasing a book on display at the library during November and December. A variety of adult fiction and children’s books will be waiting to be adopted. These are the newest and best books of 2015. A complete listing of the books is available on the website, Contact the public library for more information on how to adopt a book, or to read one of the new books after it has been adopted.

 Holiday Boutique & Candy Sale November 19 - 21: Homemade candies, such as fudge, caramels, peanut brittle, divinity, peanut clusters, and more will be for sale at the upcoming Holiday Boutique at the Henry Wallace Country Life Center November 19 - 21. The gift shop will be filled with handcrafted items made by southwest Iowa artisans. Pottery, wildlife pictures, cloth napkins, wood burned gourds, jewelry, signs, herbs & spices, watercolor prints and note cards plus much more will all be available.Hours are Thursday 4:00 to  8pm; Friday 10 am to 8 pm; and Saturday 9 am to noon.  Quilt Raffle: Buy a ticket or two for a chance at winning a 45" X 57" quilt in the rambling rose pattern made by Connie Neilsen. Tickets can be purchased at the public library or at the Holiday Boutique November 19 - 21. A picture is posted on the library website, Funds will be used to purchase books.

 New Books: New fall releases from bestselling authors are arriving every week at the library. Some of the authors with new books this fall are James Patterson, Nora Roberts, Nicholas Sparks, Beverly Lewis, Wanda Brunstetter, Janet Evanovich, Debbie Macomber, Wanda Brunstetter, John Grisham, and Sherryl Woods. Stop by the public library to check out all the new books!

 Memorial books: Two children's books have been donated to the public library In Memory of John Van Vleet. Awesome Agriculture: Beef Cattle: an A-to-Z book and Beef Cattle in the Story of Agriculture were both donated by Mark & Patty Maeder.

 TumbleBook of the Day is now available from the public library website. Navigate to the library homepage,, then click on Books & Reading. Click on the TumbleBook icon to read the picture book of the day online. The book changes daily.

 Snow & Ice: The public library is closed whenever the school is closed due to snow and ice. If there is an early out due to weather conditions the public library is closed. Also closed Saturday morning if the roads are snow-covered or treacherous.

 Holiday Hours: Closed Thanksgiving weekend Thursday - Saturday, November 26 -28.
