News about Lego Camps, Adopt-A-Book, winter hours, new books and more.

Hours: Normal library hours are 2:00 - 6:00 pm weekdays and 10 am - 12 noon Saturday. 

Holiday Hours: The public library will be closed much of the Christmas holiday. Some reduced hours are also being planned. Call ahead to be sure the library is open, 641.337.5061 X124.

  Open: Wednesday, December 23 - 2:00 - 5:00 pm
  Closed: December 24, 25, 26
  Open: December 28, 29, 30 - 2:00 - 5:00 pm, this is tentative and subject to change
  Closed: December 31, January 1 and 2
  Open: January 4, normal library hours resume

 Christmas Tree: Stop by the library to see the decorated Christmas tree with decorations made by Orient-Macksburg students.

Inclement weather: The public library is closed whenever school is closed due to inclement weather. This includes days when there is no school and when the school dismisses early due to snow/ice. Also closed Saturday mornings if the roads are bad. Call the public library anytime when in doubt about hours, 641.337.5061 X124.

 Adopt-A-Book: Support the library by purchasing a book on display at the library during December. A variety of adult fiction and children’s books will be waiting to be adopted. These are the newest and best books of 2015. A complete listing of the books is available on the website, www.orient.lib.ia.us. Contact the public library for more information on how to adopt a book, or to read one of the new books after it has been adopted.

 Wednesday Lego® Camps: Next camp is December 9. Children in grades 2 - 8 are invited to attend any or all of the monthly Lego® Camps from 2:15 - 4:00 pm. Dates are all on Wednesdays, December 9, January 27, February 24, March 23, and April 27. Please RSVP if your child has not attended any previous Lego Camps: OMpubliclib@yahoo.com or call the public library after 3:15 pm.  New Books: Many new books are arriving at the library. Some of the titles are: Pretending to Dance by Chamberlain, The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House by Brower,  The Seven Sisters by Riley, Meet me at the Cupcake Cafe by Colgan,  Distant Shores by Hannah, The Rosie Effect by Simsion, After You by Moyes and Rogue Lawyer by Grisham. Pick up a couple books to read this winter!

 Christmas Books: Check out a novel, craft, recipe or quilting book this holiday season. Suggestions are: The Christmas doctor: the true story of Dr. J.P. Weber, Christmas on Ladybug Farm, The Gift of Christmas Present, White Christmas Pie by Brunstetter, and Call Me Mrs. Miracle by Macomber.
