Summer Library Programs 2017

Summer Library programs at Orient Library in 2017.

Summer Programs 2017 for children: Fun new programs are being offered this summer along with some traditional programs. To register call, email or visit the library. All programs are free. Some require registration. All events take place at the public library.

  • Preschool Story Hour for 3 and 4-year-olds will be on Thursdays at 10:00 am beginning June 8 and ending July 27. No registration. Attend whenever it works in your schedule.
  • Summer Reading for children completing kindergarten through fifth grade. Monday & Tuesday, June 12th and 13th  from 9:30-11:30 am.

    Build a Better World is this year's theme. This program is designed to promote adventure and exploration with fun games and activities. Registration appreciated.

  • Science Center of Iowa will present Building Blunders on Thursday, June 29 at 3:00 pm. Hands-on experiences about famous building blunders that topple, tilt or twirl. For children completing kindergarten to eighth grade and registration is recommended. Staff is prepared to work with all ages, should be a fun event!
  • Insect Zooon Thursday, July 13 at 3:00 pm. Iowa State University’s Entomology department will present the many buildings made by the bugs of the world. Participants will be able to touch some of the animals on display. Limited to 35 participants so registration is strongly recommended. Ages preschool and up. A couple of adult helpers are also needed. This program is highly recommended by other librarians around the state.
  • Fancy Nancy on Monday, July 17 at 10:00 am. Registration required by July 7. Registration form available on the website.
