Summer Hours
: 2:00 - 5:00 pm weekdays and closed Saturdays beginning June 3.

Retirement: Long time employee Shirley Lattig is retiring in June. Stop by the library to talk to her before she retires. 

Salsa Workshop: Learn how to make salsa by signing up for one of two workshops offered on June 7 OR June 8 at the Methodist Church in Orient. Cost is $25 and registration deadline is June 3. Call the Extension Office for more information, 641-743-8412 or

Summer Social: Join us on Tuesdays at 3:00 pm for time to visit with friends and neighbors. The library is open, it is cool inside, and people like to gather and visit. Note, June is busy with baseball and softball games so parking may be limited. Call ahead to inquire if there is a game.  641-337-5061 Extension 124.

Preschool Story Hour  Thursday mornings at 10:00 am
Seven sessions will be held every Thursday morning from June 13 - July 25, except July 4 session will be on July 3. Each week features a book with activities related to the book of the day, including a snack. No cost. No registration. Ages 3 - 6.  

Orient Library Space Camp  Monday & Tuesday, June 11 and 12, 9:30 am - 12:00 pm. 
Participants will learn all about space and what it takes to be an astronaut. Action packed and full of fun! Grades 1 - 4 (in the fall). Must fill out Registration/Medical form included in their program booklet (or on Extension or public library website) and turn in at Extension Office or Public Library by June 4. 

Outer Space Odessy presented by Science Center of Iowa
Wednesday, June 26, 9:00 am. Out-of-this-world experiments and awe-inspiring images from outer space. Grades 1 to 6 in the fall. No cost. No registration. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to start time.

Blank Park Zoo   Tuesday, July 9, 3:00 pm
A Blank Park Zoo employee will show several animals and talk about each one with time for questions from the children. No cost. No registration. All ages, children and adult.

Hanson Family Performers - Storytelling, Juggling and Unicycling  
Tuesday, July 16, 9:00 am. Highly recommended performers entertain audiences with their juggling and unicycling skills and some exciting storytelling. Time for children to experience juggling scarves, spinning plates, and balance rods after the show. No cost. No registration. All ages welcome to attend with an adult. Please arrive 5 minutes prior to start time. Senior citizens will also enjoy this program.
