Summer Library Programs 2018

Complete list of Summer Library programs at Orient Library in 2018.

Summer Programs 2018 for children: Exciting programs are being offered this summer along with some traditional programs. To register call, email or visit the library. All programs are free. Some require registration. All events take place at the public library.

  • Preschool Story Hour for 3 and 4-year-olds will be on Thursdays at 10:00 am beginning June 7 and ending July 26. No registration. Attend whenever it works in your schedule.
  • The Real Beal's One Man Band will be on Wednesday, June 6 at 3:00 pm.
    The Real Beals are a live mechanical one man band husband and wife duo. Their children's program includes lively, interactive music that is educational and fun! All ages welcome. No registration.
  • Orient Discovery Library Camp. Summer Reading for children completing kindergarten through third grade. Monday, June 18 from 9:30-12:00 am.
    This summer reading camp is loaded with fun games, activities, and story time. It also promotes some exciting STEM endeavors that spur creativity and thought provoking skills. Action packed and full of fun! (Must fill out Registration/Medical form included in Adair County Extension program booklet and turn in at Extension Office or Public Library. Get the forms here.)
  • Orient Summer Art Camp will be on Friday, June 22 from 9:30 am - 12:00 pm. 
    Join us for a morning full of art! Create Creston will lead youth in a clay art project. Please use the east entrance at the Orient-Macksburg school. Suggested for children in grades 3, 4 and 5 in the fall. To register: fill out the Registration/Medical form for Adair County Extension programs. Write-in Orient Art Camp. Turn form in at Orient Public Library or Adair County Extension office as soon as possible.
  •  Blank Park Zoo on Monday, July 9 at 3:00 pm.
    A Blank Park Zoo employee will show several animals and talk about each one with time for questions from the children. No registration. All ages, children and adult.
  • Fancy Nancy Aspiring Artist Party on Tuesday, July 24 at 10:00 am.
    The hour-long session will feature various activities related to the Fancy Nancy books. Wear your fancy artist clothes (that are acceptable to get paint on, please.) The event is limited to the first 24 participants to register. Registration deadline is Friday, July 6. You can register by filling out the form at the library; calling the library, 641.337.5061 X124; emailing; or leave a Facebook message with Sharon Mensing or Peni Tussey. Children from preschool to grade 4 are welcome to attend. Registration form available on the website. Correct date is July 24 due to a conflict on the original date of July 16.
  •  Lego Camp on Wednesday, July 25 from 3:00 - 4:00 pm.
 Children who have completed kindergarten - grade 4 are welcome to participate in a lego camp. The suggested theme of the day will be summer. No registration.

 No cost for any library program. Contact the public library 641.337.5061 Ext. 124. Please use the library entrance on the east side of the O-M School.

Remember to fill out a registration form for Orient Discovery Library Camp, Orient Summer Art Camp and Fancy Nancy Aspiring Artist. The rest of the programs do not require registration.
